A TALE OF TWO CITIES 80 YEARS LATER
This project is being implemented with funds from the President of the Russian Federation, provided by the Presidential Grants Fund for the development of public diplomacy and support of compatriots abroad.
PROJECT GOAL
Development of public diplomacy and support of compatriots living in the UK through cultural events using digital technologies dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the first contact between the residents of Coventry and Stalingrad.

THE BEGINNING OF THE TWINNING
The first contact between the citizens of Volgograd and Coventry
The twinning movement began in 1943, when the women of Coventry, almost completely destroyed as a result of the German bombing (1940-1942), sent a tablecloth to the residents of Stalingrad, on which 830 women's names and the words were embroidered: "Little help is better than big sympathy"

65th ANNIVERSARY OF TWINNING
The residents of Volgograd made a "Stalingrad tablecloth" for the residents of Coventry to celebrate the 65th anniversary of their twinning relations.

2021 marks the 80th anniversary of the first contact. The project "Digital Tablecloth - 80 years of mutual support" is dedicated to marking this celebration.
